whats the difference?

ok i am a serious new surfer and please dont laugh but i gotta learn sometime!..what is the difference b/t softtops,plastic boards,foam boards...i mean please help cuz i see those terms all the time and i dotn know what it is!!

if that doesnt work... pretty much softtop/foam boards are for learning and epoxy and fiberglass boards are for regular surfing
