surfing in Portsmouth

hey guys! im going to be studying in the university of Portsmouth for my majors, for a year. is there any surf located in the area? i'd die if i can't surf for a week, what more a year! ...i'm from the philippines and i wouldn't know about the surf spots available there. a bit of help would definitely be awesome!!

Very inconsistant... your going to have a long drive to spots I'm afrade!

Bracklesham near Chichester is one spot but rarely gets good

if you dont mind the drive Kimmeridge Bay is good i have heard not surfed it yet though

Yeah I'd agree with that. Bracklesham is ok when there's swell. But it is worth giving shore watersports a call as they have a shop down at the witterings and on hayling island too. Their website will give you the number. its shore.co.uk The witterings are definately worth a look in the winter months. The Isle Of Wight will pick up a lot more of the swell going than most other south coast breaks near portsmouth so that is definately worth checking them out. Get a stormriders guide to europe! It has it all in there!!!
