surfing the mediterranian

I was wondering how good the surfing is in the south of france on the mediterrainian sea. i'm just a beginner so I don't need the best waves. what about the water temperature (shorts or wetsuit?)

There is surf on the franch med coast but its VERY inconsistant even in the best of times. Do a websearch for med surf, there's quite a few sites out there.
The majority of the Med surf is at the eastern end. stick to the west coast of france.
