On Monday i am fianlly getting from here (work Uk) and heading to america on hols yay!

I am looking to spend a few days of it surfing if I can, regularly surf North Devon at home but no swell here for weeks.

I would be greatful if anyone could reccomend some surf spots with chilled out locals and easy board hire as Im not taking mine with me. I will be in San Francisco for few days, then driving along the coast to Pismo Beach staying a day/2 and then driving on to Los Angeles to finish the trip. Any good spots along this route would be most welcome. I am assuming the weather will be hot and the most I'll need is a shorty if that, is that right?

Thanks for any help

being from the uk, you might understand--it was once said that the coldest winter you've ever spent is a summer in san fran....with that said, there are a TON of spots in central cali...look up "The Stormrider Guide: North America"....that'll give you an overview of most decent spots along the coast...bring a wettie, water temps stay in the 50's year 'round in san fran, and while you can trunk some days in la, 'least that way you'll have options
