Board Advice Needed Urgently!

Postby LiS_84 » Sat Oct 30, 2004 4:00 am

Hey All,

I'm looking to buy my first board, have only been surfing a few times (ie. VERY much a beginner!) but have holidays over the next few months and want to get into it properly.

A friend has recommended I get a fish board and there's one on ebay that I've been thinking about that's 5'7"x191/2"x21/2", $250 in mint condition.

I'm 164cm (about 5'4") tall and weigh 66kg (about 145lb). Does anyone have an opinon on whether or not this board would be good for me? My friend likes it but I'm worried it may be too small...

Any advice ASAP would be MUCH appreciated as the auction ends in about 7hrs!

Thanks!! :D

um... go for it if you like it...
its a tad small, and may take a bit of getting use to... but after two weeks you'll be ifne.

i am also a beginner, so dont take my advise to seriously - but i have been considering a fish as well...i was told to go at lease 20-22 inches wide though, and around 3 inches thick, so the one you are looking at may be a bit small. it may be a good idea to call a surf shop to get their opinions too.

Thanks heaps for the advice guys!

Ended up getting the board 'cause the auction was about to end and I figured there wasn't much to lose (could always sell it again). Took it out the other day and am really happy with it so I'll see how I go with it over the next few weeks.

Thanks again! :D
