vans fitted out for surfersHi all,

Postby william11 » Sun Dec 16, 2012 11:23 am

Hi all,

I am currently in the process of setting up a business converting Vans (Vivaro, Sprinter, Transit etc.) into Camper Vans.

My aim is to fit the interiors of these vans specifically to the needs of surfers with all required storage along with a bed, galley kitchen, fridge plus optional extras such as TV, iPod docking station etc.

These will be bespoke interiors, finished to a high standard and built around the requirements of you the surfer.

With a van like this your surfing trip will be a far more pleasurable experience. I would be pleased to hear your feedback regarding interest in this idea and your specific requirements as to the interior layout.

Thanks and kind regards,
Andy

Galleys belong in boats not vans. Surfers are generally scruffy cheapskates who spend all there time at the beach with wet stuff in their cars eating tins of beans and cheap pasties. High standard expensive bespoke interiors will be a waste of time for most surfers as they will have spent all there money travelling. If however you mean the rich wannabee/weekend warrior type then you need to try a different forum for your research.

Kitey the pikey
Lives in a van
eats from a can
whenever he can.
Makes all the surf scenes
reeking of beans
Says that's all that I need
and my bottle of mead.
He stays in the van
be it hot or quite cold
his wetsuit is famous
for all sorts of mould.
I've taken up troll hunting just for fun, instead of a rifle I'll just use a pun!

Food:
Good days = barbecue outside
Bad days = get home to get warm

Washing:
Sink is essential for soggy boots and gloves
Sink essential for filing with warm water to defrost hands
Surfers can pee into the sink also

Warmth:
Mega good front heater essential

Mechanics:
Reliable van a must

Privacy:
Tinted windows from behind the front door glass all the way back essential (with curtains)

Ergonomics:
Back seats must be relaxed to allow hours of comfy sitting with no numb areas

Yup, my old van was perfect :surfing: !

As above, but I'll add to that - If you built in a wet box out of fibreglass that drained outside the van with a plug/valve that would be real handy (I mean like a big icebox that's plumbed to drain on the road). That way you can load it with beer and ice... OR use it for wet wetsuits.
