I'd suggest the second method the Myagi technique Wax on wax off :D
I've taken up troll hunting just for fun, instead of a rifle I'll just use a pun!

It don't find it really matters as long as you make sure there's plenty of wax there. Once you've waxed, tilt to board so the deck catches the light. You'll be able to see any spots that have not been waxed as they'll look shiny. The fully waxed spots will be dull.

Both of those videos show really solid ways to wax your surfboard. Waxing surfboards isn't really something that can be done perfectly. Everyone has their own best way to rub on wax. Try to spend as much time in the water as possible and you will learn your own best way to wax your board is.

I'm making a website that is all about this subject. You can check it out at (http://www.bestsurfwax.com)

3 easy steps:

1. take the plastic off the wax bar
2. rub it on your board (the wax, not the plastic thingy)
3. go surfing
