Newbie looking for wetsuit advice

Postby stefan83 » Fri Sep 17, 2010 3:15 pm

Hi

I'm going to Famara Beach in Lanzarote to learn to surf at the beginnning of October and I'm looking to buy my own wetsuit. I am not sure whether to go for long or short fit and what thickness. I think Lanzarote will be between 20-25 degrees celsius at that time of year so i dont want anything I'm going to cook in, although I would like to get one that would also be suitable for use in the UK as well but I guess I am more likely to use it in the summer months. Some advice would be very welcome.

Thanks!

If your intending to use in UK (mainly 'summer' months) then a full 3/2 will be fine.

68-75 degrees, a Spring suit, a good Wetsuit jacket or vest would even do the trick.

Hey stefan, i'd also go for a full suit. Ideal for your surroundings and it always looks more cool ;)

<edit>

Peace.

I love my 4/3 Hyperflex. Inexpensive, flexible and super-warm in the cold water (worn it down to 48 degree Farenheit water and was warm). I was very comfortable in it yesterday in 65 degree water. I basically can wear it year round....only about 2 months in winter I would need something warmer and 2 months in the summer when I just board it (July/August..but I'm always cold in board shorts even though the water is mid-70's). I live in the mid-atlantic area of the US.
