Beginner: Fish or Fun?

Hey everyone, im a beginner looking for my first board. I am 6'2", 160 pounds, and have ridden 2 funboards that were about 7'4" or so. Ive got experience with other boardsports (skateboarding, snowboarding, skimboarding). My question is would a fish or funboard be better for me? I was thinking a 7'2" funboard or a 6'3" fish. My main concern is that i want something easy to ride, but not boring. and knowing i can ride a funboard makes me want to go for a fish.

that means a funboard a fish is a very hard board to ride you to to be at the stage where you are riding the face every time with ease. plus fish are only any good for small to medium clean waves. go for a funboard your enjoy it more.

leaning curve is huge don't you think its better to lean faster on a board thats good to lean on rather than slow where you are going to get frustrated with it.

bigger is better when you're learning. pick up a used fun/longboard. then a shortboard. then a fish. just because fish CAN be ridden in small/mushy surf, doesn't mean it's a substitute for a log. especially when it comes to learning; fish are difficult, but not impossible. you'll have more fun to start with a bigger board. i use my fish as a substitute for my longboard when i don't feel like strapping the longboard to my car or if i just want to ride something different. but mostly i'll bring it out if it's kind of bigger, but a little onshore and mushy. and i never consider the fish when it's pumping. the shorboards are for that. a fish is a good board to have in a quiver as an alternative, but not as a main board
