Ding Crack - Worth the Repair?

Ding Crack - Worth the Repair?

Postby the.ronin » Sat Jul 05, 2008 11:43 pm

I accidentally knocked the nose of my board against the shower pole this morning. It caused a small pressure crack along the nose edge ...

... I hope you can kind of see it. I am worried that this will allow water to get in. On the other hand, I'd hate to go through the motions of laying fabric and resign and sanding the thing out. Not sure if it's worth it. Can anyone recommend some options?

[edit] Ok yeah the crack is really tough to see. Please don't laugh, I swear there is a crack there.

Okay, I'll take your word for it

If you're worried, just put a layer of suncure/ding repair/resin over it. You dont need to go putting on layers of cloth over a ding that small.

to check if its letting water in do the "suck test" seal your lips to the board round the ding and suck. if you can suck air through the crack then its gone all the way through to the foam and youll need to fix it wix a bit of resin.

Thanks guys ... good tip, surferdude. I ended up just brushing on a light layer of resin over the crack. I think its good - I'm probably just being paranoid.

No it was the shower pole at the beach. Normally I’m ridiculously careful handling the board but there was this hottie taking a shower next to me and I got distracted haha. :?

Haha ... seriously though I don't think I ever told anyone a specific size "ideal" board. I am a proponent of learning on a shortboard though, that is true.

[edit] Oh you're referring to this thread?? Hahaha I was just kidding bro.
