Should I buy this board?

I am a beginner and have been renting softops up until this point. I want to buy a board and start cutting out from work to surf alot more than I have been. I found an ad for a board that sounds like a good deal, but need advice on whether it is. ITs a 8' Stewart Surfboard and Case - $500. It has one small ding on nose. Fins are removable. Seller description: "You probably know more about this board than I do. It was a gift, and has never been in the water. 7'10'"x 14 1/2 x 21 x 13 1/8 x 2 13/16 Cash only, (and you can have the leash too)... "

Is this a good board to learn on? Is it the right price? Looks new in photos but has ding according to the seller. Thanks!

You have linkies to the photo's?

That seems quite a small 'longboard' , 7'10" m 21 wide(?) and 2 13/16 thick? Not masses of volume & float compaerd to an equivelant softtop.

Shape, rocker, tail etc also have a lot to do with it, as does your size/weight/age.

That definatly looks 'funboard' teritory rather than longboard - also seems to have a lot of rocker?

IMO look for something 9ft or so 22-23 wide 3 thick

Steward aer a good make, its probably worth the money, but I dont think its a good starter board, esp for longboarding.

That's a great deal for a Stewart board, but I must agree with the other posters, if it doesn't meant your requirements, it's pretty much worthless. If you're pretty inexperienced I'd go with something a bit longer, unless of course you stand 4'6" and weigh out at 130lbs, then it would work nicely for you.

I think that it would be a good first board for you.
It's 2ft taller than you and plenty thick.

However, if you're looking for strictly longboards, then I'd probably wouldn't get anything shorter than 9ft.

Ormaybe they can get rid of the kelp. There seems to be tons of it at my break
