Picked it up yesterday.

Laguna bay 'Black knight' Double stringer. 9'1" , 22 1/2, 2 7/8 thick. Pintail with wooden Noseblock.

All round board, nothing to extreem, slight concave front for noseriding, decent amout of volume, not too much rocker in the middle so it should plane/paddle ok, enough in the nose I wont keep burying it.

Hopefully should be good to go, better than my current ride (Custard point Predator) which is way to much of a performance board for a learner..

Waxed up ready to go, just need some waves now.. Pics to follow.

whats wrong with the Custard point predator?
i was looking at getting one of those, i'm new to longboarding but pretty good on my mini mal so wanted a bit more of a performance orientated board rather than a log
did you find it too responsive or was it a lack of volume?

apparently the preditor is no good for smaller waves, anything under 2-3ft aparently

Predator isnt a bad board! Just not right for me & what I'm typicaly surfing. Also my mate'll want it back at some point too!:D

My predator is 9'2" (current ones are 9'1" I think) so not sure what the design is like now, Tim is a bit wayward in his shaping by all acounts anyhow. But its too wide for me, too much rocker(harder to paddle/slower) the deep channel in the bottom isnt required etc. I've surfed smaller days with it but it definatly hurts my wave count compared to something less performance orientated. & because of the performance aspects its not all that stable once your on your feet either. Not one to noseride or cruise.

Took the black night out yesterday, pertty horrid conditions, stormy crosswind, messy waves, 3-4 ft. Took a bit to get used to but got a few nice clean rides on it, have too see what its like on a better day but so far so good!

OK had it out again in slightly better (but still realy choppy) conditions last night, 2-3 ft of swell.

Paddles fine, caught some nice waves, seems eraly solid & easy to ride but turns nicely too. So far impressed.

Lovely wooden noseblock aswell...

Decks waxed already so no longer looks shinney, shame eh.

May get a nice big black/carbon singel fin for it one day soon. Soon as my wife's recovered from the bank balance shock...

And the new bag is ace, zips all the way round & 3-4 inches from the edge with edge protection, should be nice & safe.

That board is saweeeeeet. You have the same Dakine board bag as I do. It will help protect that bad boy of a board that you have.
