Today I buyed this surfboard..

starting from scratch that would sound about right... can't really go wrong with a minimal... won't be anything special but should get you up and riding and catch heaps of waves...
unles you're 60 old and spent your whole life eating burgers stuffed with bacon, washed down with 8 or 9 pints, and have a pack of smokes for afters....

Even with postage to Norway, you could get a 7'6 suitable for a beginner far cheaper than that.

not a chance!!!! the board is either really good (too good to learn on) or they saw you coming and saw the sign on your head that said "sucker".

consider taking your business elsewhere.... they are a bunch of A$$holes by the sound of it.
go secondhand or shop around and find a better deal. for what you are looking for i'd say $300 would sound closer to the mark. less if you can find a deal.

as for the board - you won't regret going with a minimal.... but at your age you may be able to go shorter depending on how much work you want to put in. shorter pointier nose thruster/hybrid funboard shapes are going to take a good bit longer to get to grips with but entirely possible to learn on if you put the work in. wouldn't recommend going shorter than a 7'

on the other hand... if you are only going to go once a week or less, stick to mal shapes (round noses)... you'll catch more waves and progress a lot faster.
use the search function on this site to have a look at a few more of the countless "first board" threads, and if you can try renting a few boards to see what works best for you before buying one.

don't worry mate... you did alright...
BICs are nothing special but you won't no matter how hard you try be able to damage it... which means when you are good enought to move on you'll get most of your money back for it should you sell it...

or you can keep it for smaller days...

Yeah BIC doesnt get any love from real surfers, there plastic pig popouts. Heavy and not shaped very well.

BUT there great to learn on, will go well enough, float you, and be indestructable, will do you fine for a year or two then you can recoupe most of your investment.

My point, Is it sounds like conar19 wants to make surfing a sport for himself. Yes Bics are good for that once a year kind of person. If your gonna learn and be in the water a lot why buy a board that you can out grow in less than a year if you progress quickly? That is why I stated in my post if conar19 is in the water a lot he is going to out grow that Bic pretty quick. That is why I suggested for him to start looking for a new board. He does not have to buy one now but when he can stand up and go straight on the Bic on a consistent basis it will be time for a new board to start advancing.

Bics do have their place but if your gonna take surfing up and surf all the time, why buy a board that you can't grow into? Why not buy a board that you can learn on and progress on?

all well and good, but if i'd had a fiberglass board when i started it'd be in tatters now...
howling wind blew my bic down the road when i was taking it off the roof one day... not so much as a scratch.
learned to drop in, bottom turn and ride the line on mine... always going to recommend them for beginners for that reason.

MY GAWD I could have got u 2 or 3 sticks and sent em to ya for that much $$$$ Don't even deal with M F'ers like that do some homework and don't be afraid to ask some peeps for help anybody who is truly in the love of it will be happy to help ya. Before you commit blog the word out and see what feedback you get.What's done is done now and hope you learned somthing and what the hell at least your doing it and well,,,,, at least it's a bulletproof stick(perfect for when you get anouther board and loan it to a bra you won't have to worry about dings.Happy surfin and peace bra
