Building the 'Hotkurl' 10'5"

Here are the three internal panels for the 10'5" Hotkurl. Three layers are used rather than the usual two, so that they can be made thinner, this allows them to be bent more easily to the required rocker and the bottom concave.

The central panel has frames and blocking running athwartships. Since the central panel is on the neutral axis, fore and aft orientation is not necessary for strength.

Funny that, your shape reversed is the shape of my very first board made of solid balsa back in 1958, the balsa was culled from life rafts of the old warships, they were balsa beams covered with tin which was riveted over the wood. the board appropriately enough was nicknamed "the can opener."

... and little did you know that moving the fin to the nose and then standing backwards would improve performance...

I was only nine at the time.
Just experiencing surfing at its purest and simplest.
I had to swim a mile before my father would allow me to have the board.
I also made a set of wheels so I could carry the back on the 1 mile trek to the beach
