sufing down the line

sufing down the line

hey i ride a 6'6 shortboard and i am having trouble surfing down the line on my board. I pop up, surf down the face and try and turn down the wave but i have no speed and i just stop.
can anyone help me?

Sounds like either the waves are too small or you are waiting too long before turning after the take off.

try turning, then as u move up a little on the wave face after your turn put your weight leaning down across the wave, whilst pumping your feet up and down which makes the front of the board sort of lift up then drop down again. you may have seen surfers do this and thought whaa..no its not some sort of sign of agression towards other surfers its to help build up speed. Thats what helped me anyways, hope it makes some sort of sense :lol:
