Ok, the simmons is up for sale.

Use her on overhead bombs at OB south of the pier and was a blast.

However, both the fish and the simmons perform about the same, but since I like quads (personal preference) I am keeping the fish.

Let me know if interested in buying her.

I'm a bit up in the air at the moment as my wife is expecting our first child. She's due in August, so I'm expecting my water time to be massively curtailed. Possibly all the more reason to invest in a wave-catcher, to make the most of the water time I do get. I'm beginning to consider getting a wave hog (aka longboard). It is food for thought though. How much do want for it, and what would the shipping to Ireland be? Will mull it over.

I always find it interesting about retro designs as I started surfing in 1958 with a Balsa long board, went down through the short board evolution, ever decreasing in size saw Simmons shapes and planing hull come and go radical vee bottoms a channel concaves etc, the thing that I am aware of is that now there is nothing a surfer won't try to do on a wave, before you were limited by lack of leash, fail and you swam. Even I do things now that were not invented way back then
So there was a streak of conservatism in what you did, many of the retro designs failed then and probably will be found wanting again, just wonder why a style has come back is it an advancement or a sales point you are being sold?

BTW a great rider can make an ironing board charge, Alaia surfing proves that and they are great fun, but beyond me

I reckon it's the exact opposite of a sales point that we are being sold. Most of the advancements in surf boards are there to benefit surfers that are well above average already. Smaller boards, more rocker etc. Kelly Slater is surfing one? Well it must be good, I'll take two. The retro designs seem to be geared for the rest of us without being pushed. There isn't a board designed that I could push to its limit, but put a bit of extra foam in here and there and I can at least look competent on it.

Exatly, the purose of the board is not to out-perform my shortboard, it's to outpaddle it.

However, there are 2 other reasons why I have a wide, thick fish, and it will probably make you laugh more than antyhing else. The first is when I feel lazy, like on dawn patrol when the night before I could not sleep, I take out the fish just to take it easier. The second is a crowded break, I can paddle-war easier, sit a little farther outside, and catch more waves. Hardly the purpose of the board but my old age I need every advantage money can buy

Sold! If you ever need a small utility board a simmons is a great option, like it as much as my fish. If my fish wasn't epoxy I would have kept the simmons. Awesome ride
