6'6" southpoint fish

Hi! does anyone have any information about how this type of board rides? im transitioning from a longboard to a shortboard. Im planning to have this as my "trainer" shortboard then transition again to a real shortboard, maybe 6'3" below. I first learned on a 9'0 board, then went down to an 8'6, 8'2, 8'0, 7'7 and 7'4. Do you think this would be good for me? BTW im 5'8, 140lbs. Not really an expert longboarder but i've progressed from being a beginner. Waves in my place aren't that big, big is when it breaks at abot chest-neck hig (for my height), and that's one reason why i considered buying a fish first to get used to riding a shortboard.

What do you guys think? thanks!

Yes, I think that will be a great step down board for you. The south point fish I think it is over 22" wide so you should get plenty of float and a much looser board. That is exactly what my son Kevin did and now he is riding a Channel Islands high performance surfboard. Is it the Bonga Perkins SouthPoint Fish? I think you are making a great choice!

yes it is the bonga perkins fish! my only problem is that it's so hard to duck dive! and is it normal to slow down after the drop? when i catch a wave, then pop up then drop down the wave, i try to bottom turn but the board slows down when i do this. i think my question should be another thread but some advice would help. thanks!

you are riding out too flat if you loose speed. do your bottom turn sooner.
