After an enquiry over on the forum, <strong><em>billie morini</em></strong> had some tips regarding a visit to Oahu, firstly about how to stay safe...<br /><br /> Stay out of bars and clubs<br /> Do not buy pot, meth, or any other illegal drugs while there<br /> Do not wander around after dark if you are drunk<br /> Leave auto or truck doors unlocked when parked at most parks and beaches<br /> If you are Caucasian, be prepared for a little reverse discrimination (it's OK, everybody should know what it is like to be treated unfairly)<br /><br />and also what to do while there...<br /><br /> Visit Pearl Harbor and take the little boat ride to the memorial on the water Spend an afternoon visiting Kilauea Volcano National Park and stay until dark to see the lava glow - in fact, bring a box lunch so you can much and watch<br /> Drive all roads around the perimeter of the island<br /> Don't eat any mainland-style fast food - there is simply too much good local food<br /> Make friends with <strong><em>hawaiiSUCKSexcept for surf</em></strong> ( another member over on the forum)<br /> Go to China town one night for dinner and order stuff you have never had before<br /> In parks and along hedge rows, look for mongeese - they were brought to HI to control rat & mice (problem is mongeese are diuranl and rats & mice are diurnal so they never meet + the mongeese it all the bird eggs)<br /> Go to the Hawaiian king's palace and pay to take one of the tours, it's right in Honolulu<br /><br /> Enjoy the water, many fine beaches
