Nicaragua has a longer than average swell season spanning approximately nine months from March to November. The largest swells, typically ranging from 6 to 8 feet, are seen between April and October. The country received consistent south swells. The surf conditions are also helped by the Lago de Nicaragua effect, which results in offshore winds on the west coast for most of the year. Most of the surf is hard to find, difficult to access and requires a 4x4 truck or a boat. Nicaragua has a wide range of surfable waves and the crowds are better than many countries. Some of the breaks are hard to get to, and you'll need a boat or 4x4.
