Wave Quality Rating2 Type of WaveBeach break Direction of WaveRight & left BottomSand DifficultyBeginners Crowd LevelCan Get Busy HazardsRocks, Rips General DescriptionJoss Bay is the most popular and the best beach / reef break in the south east. Needs a big swell to work well and works on an easterly or north east swell. The break works on any tide and depends on the banks. The rocks on either side of the beach can provide good waves.

Due to it's quality and consistency compared to breaks in the area, and its distance from London it can get busy here. Joss Bay has been a popular break with surfers in the area for over 30 years.
