There are a number of breaks dotted along the south coast of England. Swells are generally short lived and gutless. The main spots like Bournemouth Pier get very busy when there is a good swell. The best swells are generated from big storms in the Atlantic that push the swell up the channel. The best swells are produced from late autumn through the winter. The water looks dirty, but that's mostly due to the silty sea bed. Most of the beaches are clean.
