Longsands Beach is just north of the rivermouth and is a beachbreak that is best in a north / north east groundswell and west / south west offshore wind.

It can get busy here due to a large local surfing community and Newcastle upon Tyne. Best surf is in the Late Autumn through to spring with the better northerly low pressures.
