La Izquierda is one of the best waves that Tenerife has to offer (or the Canary Islands for that matter). The wave is a fast breaking, intense ride that breaks over a coral and rock bed - suitable for experienced surfers only. The break works on all tides and best in a West or North West Swell. It is nicely exposed and as a result is pretty consistent from Autumn to Spring, not so much in the summer months. As with other breaks in Tenerife, localism can be a problem so make sure you behave yourself if you surf here.
How to get there The break is easily found, right in the center of the popular tourist town of Playa de las Americas. It is an easy walk if you are in town. Access & Parking Info / CostFree and easy access to the beach. Where to Stay There are lots of places to stay in Playa de las Americas. Tenerife is a popular tourist destination so finding somewhere on pretty much any budget should not be a problem. Equipment Hire Surf Schools When its Flat?
