Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands and is a popular tourist destination. It is the busiest of the Spanish Resorts and receives around 5 million visitors a year. The capital is Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
Tenerife is a rugged, volcanic island with a rugged coastline and black sand beaches.
The island enjoys a warm climate year-round with an average of 20° - 22°C in the winter and 26° - 28°C in the summer and high sunshine totals. The weather and sea temperature make Tenerife a popular location for surfers.
Its location in the Atlantic Ocean makes Tenerife an ideal location for surf. There are a wide variety of surf breaks to suit surfers of all experience levels. The island also plays host to a number of world class surf spots.
