General Description
Motels is one of the more consistent surfspots at Ha'atafu, and probably works every other day on average.
The wave has a fast barreling take-off section so you need to get onto it really quickly. It then slows down after about 30 meters down the line, then you'll hit the inside section.
The wave starts to barrel for upto 40 meters before finishing.
Motels is best surfed 3 hours before and after high tide. After that it gets too shallow and dangerous.
It really is an excellent spot.
