Taylors Mistake is one of the better breaks in the Christchurch area. TM tends to have a little more size than other breaks in the area and as a result can be busier. Works in a big northerly, and easterly but probably best in a south easterly swell. Offshore in a westerly. Taylors can hold up to a 2.5m swell and relies on its banks for the quality of waves.
How to get there Head out to Sumner and keep going over the hill. Access & Parking Info / CostThe beach has a car park with free parking. Change there and its a 30 second walk to the beach. Where to Stay Closest stay is Sumner where there is a backpackers right next door to the pub. Handy eh! Equipment Hire Surf Schools When its Flat? Sumner has a cinema, pub and several places to eat. The Thai is very nice.
