It catches any swell on offer and can will often have a wave even if other spots along the coast are flat. The best time to surf is in winter when bigger swells are on offer and the summer crowd are no longer surfing. This long stretch of beach produces some classic hollow waves when the conditions are right.

How to get there You can surf all along the from, the busiest area (and often with the best waves) is around the pier. Head along Pacific Highway and look for the spray. Access & Parking Info / CostThe beach is public and is just off the highway. There are several options for parking: all day (around $10-15) in the main lots, hourly (in the lot off of 6th street), or at the meters along PCH and the streets perpendicular to the beach. Equipment Hire Board rentals all over the place along PCH near the pier. Surf Schools Most rental places also offer surf lessons. Surf legend Corky Carroll also runs a camp during the summer out of Huntington Beach.
