The Firewire Rapidfire Hellfire is a contemporary Hybrid, taking the best characteristics of the Dominator and Spitfire, maintaining bottom curve, thickness distribution and rail volume, but adding 2" in length with a narrower nose and tail. And deeper double concaves for extra lift and drive at speed. The result is a more standard short board look and feel. The Hellfire has more of the on-rail; in the pocket drivey feel that you trust in your "normal" short board. Suggested lengths are 2" to 4" shorter than your regular short board, or 2" to 4" longer than your hybrid. Rapidfire is a hybrid technology, combining the carbon rod suspension of DirectDrive with a bamboo top deck skin. Rapidfire's core is shaped from 2lb fused EPS foam and the Bamboo skin is applied using Firewire's proven sandwich construction. Unlike FST and DD, the 2lb foam and bamboo deck do not require a vent. The interior carbon rods work with the bamboo skin to optimize flex patterns, maximizing speed and drive through turns, and while not as dent resistant as the DD or FST aerospace composite skin, the bamboo dose create significant compression strength. RF's flex characteristic is similar to FST and the overall effect is a highly tuned, durable surfboard with increased performance and strength versus traditional surfboard construction. RF retails in line with premium PU surfboards. The Rapidfire Hellfire board integrates EXO CARBON technology into the existing design to boost performance levels even higher. The EXO CARBON technology developed by SSS (Surfboard Suspension Systems) is unique to Firewire, the skeletal carbon frame they have developed is engineered around and inside the Firewire's blank. This carbon exo skeleton basically controls and improves the rate and degree of flex and the flex memory. What this means for you and me is heightened responsiveness and a very lively ride. As with the standard parabolic boards the dimensions, foils and rail configurations are all geared towards maximum speed and the tightest turning radius possible. The construction materials, a unique formulation of hi- tech epoxy resins and advanced composites mean that these boards maintain the lively feel you get with brand new polyurethane boards, but are up to 20% lighter and will last 5+ times longer. This manufacturing process has won environmental awards and has created a range of lightweight and durable custom boards that are quickly being recognised for their awesome performance, just ask Taj Burrow! What this all means for surfers is a step forward in the age old trade off of performance versus durability that has traditionally limited polyurethane boards. The nature of the core technology in these boards allows them to rebound in and out of turns with little loss of speed.
