| The Firewire Direct Drive (DD) 5' 11 squash tail board is from the new range that integrates EXO CARBON technology into the existing design to boost performance levels even higher. The EXO CARBON technology developed by SSS (Surfboard Suspension Systems) is unique to Firewire the skeletal carbon frame they have developed is engineered around and inside the Firewire's blank. This design uses perimeter rods to integrate the front and back foot these rods are suspended and interconnected inside the rail incoporating a TORQUE TRANSFER system which runs all the way to the FUTURE fins. This means pretty much tip to toe carbon control! This carbon exo skeleton basically controls and improves the rate and degree of flex and the flex memory. What this means for you and me is heightened responsiveness and a very lively ride. As with the standard parabolic boards the dimensions foils and rail configurations are all geared towards maximum speed and the tightest turning radius possible. The rapid response flex memory in the Future Shapes Technology used in these boards yields great speed through the turns whilst the parabolic rail configuration guarantees 100% return memory for years. Firewire surfboards feature some very distinct construction traits that set them aside form other boards currently available: 1) parabolic balsa rails 2) dual density EPS and advanced composite core 3) and now the DD CARBON EXO SKELETON The parabolic balsa rails flex at the start of a turn storing energy and rebound through the turn releasing built up energy in the form of speed. The spring back of the parabolic rails to the original rocker triggers rapid acceleration like an arrow shot from a bow. The construction materials a unique formulation of hi-tech epoxy resins and advanced composites mean that these boards maintain the lively feel you get with brand new polyurethane boards but are up to 20% lighter and will last 5+ times longer. This manufacturing process has won environmental awards and has created a range of lightweight and durable custom boards that are quickly being recognised for their awesome performance just ask Taj Burrow! What this all means for surfers is a step forward in the age old trade off of performance versus durability that has traditionally limited polyurethane boards. The nature of the core technology in these boards allows them to rebound in and out of turns with little loss of speed this is heightened by the new DD system. The secret to improved surfing is maintaining and using this speed to go higher bigger longer or whatever does it for you! Firewire surfboards are members of 1% FOR THE PLANET an organisation that financially supports environmental protectionism. Firewire also won the SURFBOARD OF THE YEAR award at the recent SIMA awards - that's basically the surf industry deciding who has done the best job and is an extremely prestigious award. Thanks to 10 years of research and the expertise of shapers Nev Hyman and Dan Mann the future of surfing is changing these guys are calling this Future Shapes Technology we like it! |
